I personally think that it's not necessarily what you say, but how you say it.
I don't like hearing the sound of my own voice, so I'm usually quiet and I don't use it much. It's not so much the pitch of my voice I guess, but the tone of my voice. When I say things, they sound robotic or sarcastic or weird. I don't know.
And I don't want to resort to hitting myself in the neck with a bat either (just a joke!), but can I change my voice naturally?
I know this will spur me to talk more just to hear the sound of my own voice. Don't ask why I want to, it's just because I want to be able to talk more, but whenever I talk I think I sound stupid and monotone.
Thank you!
How Can You Change Your Voice?
My Dear Friend,
it is actually possible to work on the voice in pyschology, but it is done just for those who have serious speak problems. for you, first I must hear your speaking, many times it is just our negative thoughts about ourselves that bend the reality. but as far as I can't do this, please ask the others (specially those who know you well) how you speak sounds.
Second, if it is really weird or so, try to practice speaking naturally and without thinking about it, record your voice, replay it and try to correct your tone and repeat it as many times as possible and be sure that practice makes perfect!
How Can You Change Your Voice?
The best way to practice varying your voice is to read children’s books out loud. Make sure you adjust your voice for each character and that you clearly articulate each word. Practice with a tape recorder so you can listen to yourself from the audience’s perspective.
You can also think about a subject you are passionate about and then talk about that into a tape recorder. Listen to your voice fluctuation and see how it changes as you talk about something you have a lot of passion for. Then take any piece of reading and try to read it with that same passion.
Not varying your voice would be like someone playing a piano piece at the same tempo, same note, at the same volume (think “chopsticks for the ears”). It is relatively fast that your audience will tune you out completely. Therefore they will miss all the great information you give.
A quick acid test to determine if you are too monotone or too detailed is to watch the types of questions people ask back of you. Questions should be ones that expand on what you say rather than asking you to repeat what you covered.
yeah, i heard that people can make 6-7 different voices (i'm talking about natural voices not tone)
in ur case no need to change ur voice, i guess
btw, do u make expression when u say something?
i mean like, do ur eyes brighten when u say something funny, something u like?
if u still can't help w/ ur tone, just add a facial expression, it usually helps to cover ur voice's tone
try speaking in front of the mirror may help too
one more thing,
maybe ur real problem is ur dislikeness of ur own voice that makes u think n product the sound u don't like
