Does getting your adenoids removed change your voice?

im 14 year old girl and i had a raspy voice all my life, i could pretty much never breath through my nose. my doctor told me that i should get them removed. or i could wait till im older to see how i sound. do you think if i hot them removed my voice woouldnt be as raspy|||While there are several causes for nasal obstruction, adenoid enlargement is one of the more common in childhood. Usually by adolescence the adenoids start to decrease in size, but not always. Allergies and deviated septum are other causes. Nevertheless, it would be wise to consult an ENT specialist.

The quality of your voice will change after the adenoidectomy, but most of the change is often temporary. Raspiness is usually due to other causes involving the vocal cords themselves.
