Is it true breathing in helium to change your voice makes it permanently squeaky?

My mom told me that and that%26#039;s why I don%26#039;t take more than one %26#039;hit%26#039; of helium from balloons.

don%26#039;t tell me about how you can die from helium and bla bla i just wanna know about the perm squeaky voice thing|||Your mom is paranoid, it does not do that at all, nor will it kill you unless you breathe it in for a long period of time. The reason helium raises the pitch of your voice is because it is lighter than air, so once all the helium leaves your lungs your voice would return completely back to normal. It does not permanently affect your vocal cords in any way.|||yes|||parents just tell you that because its annoying and they want you to stop
